Vic Mignogna "[email protected]" <[email protected]
I first met Vic back at Anime Blues Con in 2015, then again for ABC 8 and I have to say I’ve never met a person as nice as him. We talked about being trekkies, we joked how I didn’t have a Shark Ren plushie yet and he gave me a big hug!
I’ve been a fan of Vic’s since 2005 and over the years he’s been an inspiration to me. I didn’t have the best childhood growing up and mostly kept to myself to avoid confrontation. It got to the point that I tried to hang myself but could never find the courage to do it. It’s when I discovered anime and Fullmetal Alchemist that I could focus on something other then my bullies and what they say. It gave me an outlet to be who I am and to protect myself emotionally. I became slightly obsessed with Edward I’ll admit and wanted to know everything there was about him, and when I saw that my favorite blond haired pip squeak was in other shows it excited me.
And when I met Vic for the first time, I was so nervous that I could barely speak to him. I’m surprised I said anything at all honestly. He was very nice and very patient with me and mentioned that he was also a fan of Star Trek to help calm me down and that conversation really helped my anxiety. And when I attended my first Sunday morning panel of his, I was shocked at first because I’ve never experienced that at a convention before. When I came up to speak with him afterwards and tried to talk to him, I started crying because his words touched my heart then he gave me a hug and said that everything was ok and that no matter what, I would be loved.
I’ll never forget what he’s done for me
I met Vic for the first time in 2010. My friend and I saw him on the con floor and ran up to him (completely interrupting what he was doing and where he was going) by all rights, he should've been super mad and annoyed at me and my friend, but he wasn't. He gave us a hug, apologized that he couldn't talk and then went off and did what he was planning to do.
We saw him later and he spoke with us at length and was super sweet to us (even signed our stuff for us!). And every time I've met him since then he has been nothing but sweet and kind. He's still one of my favorite VAs.
